3 Best sounds for better COncentration deeper sleep and maximum creativity.

I have always been fascinated by the power of sound, the way a particular song can change your state of mind instantly, the way the sound of rain can soothe and yet bring up bottled up emotion, how the sound of a bird singing can put a smile on your face or how the sounds of the ocean can melt you into a deep state of relaxation, calmness and tranquility. The world is full of distractions and to do lists competing for our attention, however, specific types of sounds frequencies and tones have been scientifically proven to reduce anxiety, improve sleep quality, boost concertation and increase creativity. Here are 3 sounds you should listen to today.

  1. Binaural Beats

Binaural Beats are known as a third sound created in the brain while listening to two tones with very similar frequencies. For example if you listen to 440Hz in one ear and 444Hz in the other, your brain will interpret this as 4Hz. Recent studies have indicated that listening to Binaural Beats at 40Hz in particular can increase concertation, alertness and positivity and are recommended to listen to prior to a test, workout or any activity requiring a long period of concentration.

2. Pink Noise and Brown Noise

I’m sure you have heard of white noise but did you know that there are two other noise colors used as sound therapy as well? Pink noise is a consistent flat sound like a steady rainfall outside your window or the sound of waves on a beach, while brown noise, also known as red noise has a deeper more rumbling quality to it and is similar to the sound of steady rainfall but with a more base-like tone. Brown noise is rumored to help eliminate ringing in your ears (try it now).

3. Weightless a song by Marconi Union

A group of musicians called Marconi Union wrote and composed a song called Weightless, which has been dubbed the most relaxing song in the world. It was created with the help of sound therapists from the Academy of Sound Therapy in Britain. This lyric-less new age song has been known to reduce anxiety, calm the nervous system down and boost creativity. It is available at no cost on YouTube both in short and long versions of the song.

Try listening to all 3 sounds and see which one works best for you, you can listen to them through headphones or just in your room. Be patient, as it may take some time for you to see results in your concertation or anxiety levels. Remember there is no right or wrong way to do this.
